Winchester Photo Guide-Professional Project
As part of my research for my professional project, I went to observe and explore Winchester and to take photographs of all the cafes, landmarks, independent shops etc which might come in useful for my final magazine. So as not to have a huge conglomeration of photographs, I decided to make a book of the most valuable photos, also investigating layouts, graphic styles and overall book size.
I am really happy with the outcome, having it professionally printed really makes a difference and I feel that it has helped me narrow down a few pathways as to where my work is leading me and what the content of my final outcome will be.

These are the finished designs for the Perrier Jouet bar alcoves. I ended up making them out of window colour as they are more manageable and can be transferred on to almost any surface. They also retain the transparency that Jess mentioned in the last e-mail. I am really happy with the outcome and Marcello has advised me to create a set at Uni where I can suspend the foliage and place the accessories for a mock type set as a prototype.

These are the final vectors that I will be using for the set. They include two foliage suspensions, glass decor, ash tray decor and also the Perrier Jouet logotype. With regards to colour, I have yet to discuss this with Marcello and Jess but I think we said we were sticking with greens and whites and leaving out the pink. I am excited to find out what I will be making these out of!

Final Black Swan outcome
This is the final version of my Black Swan composition. In all honesty I don’t particularly like it. I think the idea was really great but the execution of the idea failed me slightly. I am not too sure as of yet what I could have done differently but I think that it was slightly too minimal and not graphic enough to comply with the style of Little White Lies.
The colour scheme was appropriate for the character in the film but of course it was very similar to the original. This was inevitable and I think a lot of people made this mistake and realised too late to change it. I did like my initial idea of crazy swirls coming out of her head and I think this would have been executed more successfully and would have stood more of a chance of winning than this final outcome.
I am happy with the typeface that I decided to use in the end and I like the way that it ties in well at the bottom. I do think that it is slightly too overpowering and should have been made slightly smaller as it is the same size as the eyes which looks awful. Aside from this I think that the use of ink works well with the ink blots and I would not change that decision.
Overall, it is not the most successful piece but I think if I had taken a bit more time to develop it thoroughly it could become a great piece as the initial idea is invaluable and I do not want to waste that.

Further to the telephone conversation I had with Marcello, we have decided to include an ash tray as part of the decor inside the alcove. This will be along side a wine glass to suit the atmosphere. We plan to decorate these as well however it might take considerably longer finding something that can be placed or transferred straight on to glass. Any ideas
